Via Ferrata
The Via Ferrata Mürren is a spectacular via ferrata route leading from Mürren to Gimmelwald, offering unique views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Along cliff faces, steel cables and suspension bridges, an unforgettable outdoor experience awaits.
We are the equipment rental station for via ferrata gear in Mürren and offer the appropriate safety equipment for self-guided tours for rent. The via ferrata is operated and maintained by the Via Ferrata Mürren association. We are pleased to provide you with the best conditions for a safe and memorable traverse of the via ferrata.
The via ferrata is suitable for physically fit individuals with good overall condition, sure-footedness and a head for heights. Guided tours can optionally be booked through external partners.
Please note that rentals may be restricted depending on weather and safety conditions.

Getting Here
Mürren is car-free and can be reached as follows:
- Via Stechelberg: by the Schilthornbahn cable car directly to Mürren
- Via Lauterbrunnen: by the Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway (BLM) to Mürren
Please note:
The BLM is out of service until mid-July each year due to maintenance work. Please check the current timetables before your visit.
Season Start & Season End
- Season start: 1 June
- Season end: 31 October
Important note:
The opening dates are set for nature conservation reasons. It is not permitted to use the Via Ferrata outside of these dates.

PRICE LIST
RENTAL
Mandatory:
Climbing harness incl. via ferrata set & helmet: CHF 35 per person
Please note:
CHF 5.– per set is included in the price and is passed on to the Via Ferrata Mürren association.
Optional:
Shoes with suitable sole: CHF 20 per pair
Gloves: CHF 29 per pair
Further notes:
Appropriate footwear with good, grippy soles is required. All shoes are checked on site. If the footwear is deemed unsuitable (e.g. worn soles), appropriate shoes must be rented.
Equipment Reservation
Equipment reservations are made exclusively by email. Unfortunately we are unable to accept reservations by phone.
Please send us the following details:
- Number of sets
- desired date
- desired pick-up time
A reservation is required to guarantee the equipment you need.
Cancellation policy:
Free cancellation is possible up to 24 hours in advance. After that, we reserve the right to charge for the reserved equipment.

Pick-up & Return
Equipment is picked up at the shop in Mürren and must be returned in person on the same day.
Rental hours are daily from 09:00 to 14:30.
The last equipment issue is at 14:30, to allow sufficient time to complete the via ferrata by 18:00 at the latest.
Returns are due no later than 18:00.
Payment
Payment is made on site at equipment pick-up.
No deposit is required.
Minors & Consent Form
Minors may only use the Via Ferrata with a signed consent form from their legal guardian, unless accompanied by a person with parental authority.
The accompanying person on site must be of legal age.

Without a valid consent form, we cannot rent out any equipment.

Please note:
The price for guided tours includes the reservation and the rental of the safety set. Shoes are not included in the price.
Safety & Conditions
Safety is our top priority.
Even with good weather forecasts, conditions in the mountains can change at short notice.
We therefore reserve the right to refuse rentals in unfavourable conditions (e.g. rain, thunderstorms or slippery surfaces) – even if the via ferrata is officially open.
For nature conservation reasons, the Via Ferrata may be used no earlier than 09:00 and must be completed by 18:00 at the latest.
